EMERITUS/EMERITA STATUSUpon retirement, tenured faculty members may be nominated for emeritus or emerita status by their dean or department head. Nominations are normally made not more than six weeks before the faculty member’s retirement date. Typically, the department head sends a letter to the dean requesting the emeritus or emerita status. An Unpaid Appointment Form (UAF) and CV should accompany this letter. The dean then sends a letter to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, with the UAF and CV attached. If approved, the Office of Academic Affairs sends the UAF to the Payroll office and updates the Emeritus mailing list. The Unpaid Appointment Form is in the HRIS Forms section of the Banner Guide. On the UAF, use position BUOXEM and leave the job "End Date" blank. |
