1) Part-time, temporary and limited duration appointments (generally less than 50% or less than six months duration) can be made for officers of instruction or research through the open applicant pool process.

2) Direct hires (an appointment without a search) will be considered on an exceptional basis only. Requests should be submitted to the Affirmative Action Director with a memo explaining the exceptional circumstances.

3) Post-retirement appointments for UO retirees do not require a search if the work assignment is similar to the employee’s pre-retirement work.
